12 Daily Habits That Are Actually Not That Bad

Everybody wants to stay healthy, and in doing so, we mistakenly believe some habits as unhealthy. Not everything we do comes under the category of harmful things. There is no harm in some of our regular activities.

Therefore, if you feel guilty about doing these things all the time mentioned in this article, relax! There is nothing harmful or unhealthy about them, and some of them are even good for you.

There are many habits that are actually not that bad, but we have made them unhealthy in our eyes. You can continue these habits only if you do not exceed certain limits.

1.      Using Antiperspirant

About ten years ago, the myth that antiperspirants cause breast cancer spread like wildfire. And the “evidence” sounded convincing that aluminum-based ingredients were carcinogenic. A number of studies disproved this myth, but people still believe in it. But if you get all sweaty all the time, then there is nothing wrong with using it. Nobody likes a stinky person.

2.      Eating Eggs

Once upon a time, people considered eggs bad for the heart due to their cholesterol content. But, according to new research, one egg a day can actually lower your chances of developing heart disease.

Eggs also contain proteins, vitamins, phospholipids, and carotenoids-all of which are very beneficial for the body. If you are on a diet, then you can eat boiled eggs. Moreover, you can eat eggs white for breakfast.

3.      Glass Of Beer

You may have heard of the benefits of drinking wine, but beer? It turns out that moderate amounts can help with a variety of health problems. Beer lowers the risk of heart disease, type 2 diabetes, kidney stones, and it also strengthens bones.

But if you are one of those who get carried away by drinking alcoholic beverages, then you should ignore this tip. Remember, this beer is only beneficial in a moderate amount. If you exceed this limit, you might have to get help from some expert. In severe cases, withdrawing from substance abuse can get complex.  

4.      Not Showering Every Day

A daily shower removes bacteria from your body, which, believe it or not, is actually harmful. Frequent washing disrupts the normal “human microbiome: bacteria, viruses, and germs. These microorganisms are essential for your immune system, digestive tract, and heart to function properly.

Frequent showering can also strip your skin of the moisture it needs, leaving it dry and dull. Therefore, it is better not to shower daily but after a few days.

5.      Stress

Stop being stressed about your stress. In fact, moderate to short-term stress motivates you, gives you optimal alertness, and stimulates cognitive function. For example, when people think of stress as a challenge instead of a threat, they can act more constructively and effectively. Therefore, stress can work as a blessing in disguise and help you focus on your health.

6.      Skipping Workouts

You may feel guilty about not going to the gym for days, but your body still needs a break. When you don’t let it rest, the body doesn’t have time to recover, and you can damage your muscles. Do not overdo it! It is better to skip workouts for some days. Excessive workouts can actually make you unhealthy. Let your muscles relax!

7.      Swearing

Scientists once suggested that profanity can exacerbate feelings of helplessness and physical pain, but the opposite is true. Swearing can actually increase the pain threshold, and it gives a feeling of relief. So if you swear a lot, do not worry, it alright.

8.      Snacking

You can quickly grab a snack when your stomach starts to rumble between meals. It’s best to eat something healthy, like a handful of nuts, when you’re hungry, so you don’t overeat later during your main meal. Healthy snacks will help you stay full. Moreover, if you stay hungry for a longer period, it can actually be damaging to your health.

9.      Gossip

It turns out that gossip can potentially reduce stress and increase oxytocin levels in women. Psychologists say that this chatter can also help you understand what is bothering you in general and what is appropriate and inappropriate in different situations.

10.  Chewing Gum

Sweetgum, of course, is terrible for the teeth, but it can be beneficial for the brain. When you chew it, you focus more quickly on tasks that require constant monitoring. And it also improves your reaction and accuracy. But keep this habit to a minimum, do not overdo it. 

11.  Complaints

There is a right and wrong way to complain. The wrong way will cause your brain to tune in to negativity and cause a range of physical problems, including a weakened immune system and high blood pressure. How then is it correct to complain?

This means consciously expressing your grievances and it can actually be good for your health. Basically, good complainants are trying to find a way to make things better; not just moan about things they think they cannot change.

12.  Sleep A Lot On Weekends

You can’t make up for your lack of sleep on weekdays, or can you? If you sleep before noon, you will disrupt your circadian rhythms and increase the likelihood of developing diabetes and heart disease.

However, researchers have found some unexpected benefits of long sleep. People under the age of 65, who slept little on weekdays, but got enough sleep on weekends, lived longer than those who took 7 hours to sleep every day.
